Printing from an iPhone?

Is there an app or some special requirement to be able to print text messages directly to my WiFi printer? I use the print option, but my phone says that I have no AirPrint printers available. My 82 year old step mother does it all the time and she has the identical printer to mine. It can't be that complicated, but I am not a smartphone person whatsoever. Help!

Troubleshooting first:

Setting up Airprint
Make sure your printer is AirPrint-enabled and connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your iPhone
Open the app with the content you want to print
Tap the Share or Actions button
Scroll down and tap Print
If you don't see the Print option, check the app's Help or User Guide
Select No Printer Selected and choose an AirPrint-enabled printer
Choose the number of copies and other print options
Tap Print

Connect using Bluetooth
Turn on Bluetooth on your iPhone by going to Settings > Bluetooth
Select your printer from the list of available Bluetooth devices
Open the document or picture you want to print and tap the Share button
