2024 PT5 will not be visible with the naked eye or even a 12" telescope!

Our Moon is and has been in orbit for the past 4.53 Billion Years while 2024 PT5 is temporarily capture started at 3:54 p.m. EDT on September 29, 2024, and will end at 11:43 a.m. EDT on November 25, 2024.

Our Moon's radius is 1738.1 km. 2024 PT5 radius is 11 m.

Nice picture. Ya, it's only about the size of a bus. Guess they're just calling it a mini moon because it's making a partial orbit around the earth before the sun's gravitation sends it on its way.

I got the telescope out to check it out the first night is was supposed to orbit. No joy. Looked it up. Holy crap. Low on the horizon and couldn't be seen with a 12" telescope. What a load of poo.

I have never like those monthly Once-in-a-Lifetime events as well. Such as the Transit of Venus in 2012. I suppose if you were born after the 2004 event, then you wouldn't be around for the next cycle in 2117. But from my point of view...
